Information Technology Assessment.

The company leadership expressed an interest in a gaining a better understanding of their Information Technology environment. They needed an objective third party partner with a proven process of assessing all aspects of an IT function within a medium sized business.

The client had nearly 300 end users, several critical business applications all on-premises, a few cloud applications, and an aging network infrastructure, and a limited IT staff.

The following areas were included in Jack Pine’s assessment.

As a result of the assessment, the client initiated several key projects to address the gaps identified by the assessment. The following projects were scoped by and managed by Jack Pine Consulting.

  • Implemented a cloud back-up solution to replace an outdated on-premises legacy solution.

  • Engaged in a Virtual CISO project to remediate security vulnerabilities.

  • Invested in upgrades to its local area network equipment.

  • Migrated from an on-premises shared folder legacy solution to Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint.

  • Migrated nearly all on-premises servers to Azure; consolidating many services to reduce the number of servers.

  • Instituted Windows Hello for Business and complex passwords

  • Reduced considerably the on-premises data center footprint and security attack surface.

As a result of engaging with Jack Pine Consulting, the client was able to modernize their business applications, infrastructure, and security processes.
